2024 GSP INFEX AND DX CONTEST

Greetings fellow hams and radio enthusiasts,

We are thrilled to share the exciting news of DX1HAM's active involvement in the International Friendship Exchange (INFEX) and DX Contest organized by the esteemed Girl Scouts of the Philippines SHARES (DX1GSP). On February 17, 2024, our group gathered at the QTH of DU1AV in Quezon City, Philippines, for a memorable and enriching experience.

A highlight of our participation was the invaluable collaboration with the Girl Scouts from GSP Manila Council. Their enthusiasm and dedication added an extra layer of joy and camaraderie to the event. We extend our heartfelt gratitude to these young scouts for their active involvement and unwavering support throughout the contest.

To all the amateur radio stations who reached out and established contact with our station during the contest, we express our sincerest appreciation. Your engagement and contributions made this event truly memorable and fulfilling.

Special thanks are also due to the dedicated Ham Radio Operator members of DX1HAM for their tireless assistance and guidance, especially to our Club Trustee Mr. Alberto "Abet' Villanueva, DU1AV in supporting the Girl Scouts during the contest. Your expertise and commitment were instrumental in ensuring a smooth and successful operation.

In closing, DX1HAM is immensely grateful for the opportunity to participate in 2024 INFEX and the DX Contest, fostering international friendship and showcasing the spirit of amateur radio. We eagerly anticipate future collaborations and endeavors that continue to strengthen our bonds within the global ham community.

World Telecommunication and Information Society Day

History
World Telecommunication Day
World Telecommunication Day has been celebrated annually on 17 May since 1969, marking the founding of ITU and the signing of the first International Telegraph Convention in 1865. It was instituted by the Plenipotentiary Conference in Malaga-Torremolinos in 1973 as Resolution 46.
World Information Society Day
In November 2005, the World Summit on the Information Society called upon the UN General Assembly to declare 17 May as World Information Society Day to focus on the importance of ICT and the wide range of issues related to the Information Society raised by WSIS. The General Assembly adopted a resolution (A/RES/60/252) in March 2006 stipulating that World Information Society Day shall be celebrated every year on 17 May.
World Telecommunication and Information Society Day
In November 2006, the ITU Plenipotentiary Conference in Antalya, Turkey, decided to celebrate both events on 17 May as World Telecommunication and Information Society Day. The updated Resolution 68 invites Member States and Sector Members to celebrate the day annually by organizing appropriate national programmes with a view to:
stimulating reflection and exchanges of ideas on the theme adopted by the Council
debating the various aspects of the theme with all partners in society
formulating a report reflecting national discussions on the issues underlying the theme, to be fed back to ITU and the rest of its membership
